Danny Stutsman Named Oklahoma’s 83rd Consensus All-American
Danny Stutsman, the standout linebacker for the Oklahoma Sooners, has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players in the program’s storied history by earning Consensus All-American honors. The announcement makes Stutsman the 83rd player in Oklahoma football history to achieve this prestigious distinction, underscoring his impact on both the team and college football as a whole.
Stutsman, a junior from Windermere, Florida, has been a key force in Oklahoma’s resurgence this season. Known for his exceptional football IQ, sideline-to-sideline speed, and leadership on and off the field, he finished the regular season as the Big 12’s leading tackler with 125 total stops. His stats also include 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown in a critical win against Texas.
His dominance was recognized across the nation, as Stutsman earned first-team All-America honors from several major outlets, including the Associated Press, Sporting News, and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. These accolades secured his place as a Consensus All-American, a designation given to players who appear on the majority of recognized All-America teams.
A Legacy of Excellence
Stutsman’s recognition continues a proud tradition of excellence for the Oklahoma program. The Sooners now boast 83 Consensus All-Americans, the most of any school in the Big 12 and one of the highest totals in college football history. Stutsman joins a lineage that includes legendary names such as Billy Sims, Brian Bosworth, and Adrian Peterson.
“It’s an incredible honor,” Stutsman said in a statement. “Growing up, you dream about playing at the highest level, and to receive this recognition means the world to me. I’m grateful to my coaches, teammates, and the Sooner Nation for their support.”
Leadership Beyond the Field
Stutsman’s impact extends beyond his on-field contributions. A team captain, he has been praised for his leadership and commitment to fostering a winning culture. Head coach Brent Venables lauded Stutsman for his work ethic and dedication.
“Danny embodies everything we want in a Sooner,” Venables said. “He’s a relentless competitor, a selfless leader, and a tremendous teammate. This honor is a testament to all the hard work he’s put in.”
With the Sooners poised for a strong finish to the season, Stutsman’s recognition as a Consensus All-American serves as a crowning achievement. It not only highlights his individual greatness but also reinforces Oklahoma’s status as a powerhouse in college football.
As the program looks toward its future, Stutsman’s legacy will undoubtedly serve as a benchmark for the next generation of Sooners.
